Peccary also called Javelina have coarse black-and-gray fur with a dark dorsal stripe. Peccaries fur is lighter around the shoulders, and distinguished by a grayish-white band around the neck. A mane of long, stiff hairs extends down the crown of the head to the rump, where a musk gland is located. Adult peccaries measure 46 to 60" long and usually 20 to 24"  tall. They weigh between 40 and 60 lbs.
