GREAT LAKES

Mearns’ quail are the largest and most striking  quail.  Male Mearns  have a distinctive harlequin marked face pattern, somewhat large eyes and heavily spotted sides. Mearns have  a slight crest, but do not often hold it erect. The female mearns is duller, with a brown face and more subtle patterning. Both mearns quail male and female have a short tail. Mature Mearns Quail  average eight to 9.5"  in length.
