Scolopax minor

Woodcock is a short-legged, plump bird, with a 2 1/2 inch long bill. The woodcock's head is gray and brown with black bars across the crown. Woodcock have large eyes set high and far back on the head  and the wings are short, wide, and rounded.   Male woodcocks and female woodcocks  are similar in appearance, but the female woodcock is slightly larger than the male.
