Centrocercus urophasianus

Sage Grouse also called "sage hen" or "sage chicken"  sage grouse have brown, gray and black feathers on  top,  sides and a black belly. Sage Grouse have long spiky, pointed tails that open up to a large fan. The male Sage Grouse has yellow eye combs, black throat and bib, and a large white ruff on the breast which conceals yellowish nuchal (air) sacs. Sage Grouse males often weigh in excess of 4-5 lbs. and hens weigh  2-3 lbs.
